چکیده

The luminescent solar concentrator (LSC) as energy harvesting window is an emerging technology in the realm of building integrated photovoltaics. Using recent advancement for assessing balance between transmitted color quality and potential electricity generation, this paper optimizes theoretical luminophore absorption spectra highest power generation possible. conversion efficiencies (PCE) are based on coupling LSC waveguide to a highly efficient crystalline silicon cell. A non-convex optimisation algorithm maximizing used with constraints parameters: average visible transmission (AVT) rendering index (CRI). An optimal has been defined using continuous function cut-off limited spectrum. Two types set: 1) 55% < AVT 100% 2) 70 CRI 100. first constraint will ensure sufficient light second ensures appropriate rendering. Ray-trace validated results show high ranging from 9.53% 14.3% (AVT = 90%, 98) 55%), respectively. Future studies can use these benchmark (tandem) LSCs specific lighting requirements. Furthermore, flexibility proposed method allows adaptation not paper.

Quantifying self-absorption losses in luminescent solar concentrators.

Analytical equations quantifying self-absorption losses in circular luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) are presented that can easily be solved numerically by commercial math software packages. With the quantum efficiency, the absorption and emission spectra of a luminescent material, the LSC dimensions, and the refractive index as the only input parameters, the model gives an accurate accou...

Nanostructured, luminescent solar concentrators

Luminescent solar concentrators1 (LSCs), a class of solar-energyharvesting devices, operate slightly differently from traditional photovoltaic (PV) solar cells. Irrespective of the exact nature of the active materials used for their manufacturing, solar cells generate electrical carriers and, hence, a photocurrent. In contrast, LSCs absorb solar photons and re-emit them over a narrow band at lo...

Luminescent solar concentrators and the reabsorption problem.

The problem of reabsorption in luminescent solar concentrators (LSC) is discussed. A mathematical development is presented which enables the LSC gain to be calculated based on the optical properties of the materials and a random walk formalism. Two- and three-dimensional analyses are used. A detailed set of calculations for a common dye (rhodamine 6G) is used to examine the practicality of empl...

Losses in luminescent solar concentrators unveiled

A novel experimental method is presented to determine the optical efficiency and the loss channels of a luminescent solar concentrator (LSC). Despite strong promise, LSCs have not yet reached their full potential due to various mechanisms affecting the device's optical efficiency. Among those loss channels, escape cone and non-unity quantum yield losses are generally the most dominant. To furth...
